Tool Management
Fastems solutions cover complete FMS type tool data management for machine tools and also solutions for automatic (robotized) tool handling for a group of several machine tools or a single machine tool.
Tool Management covers tool data read/write functions to machine tools, tool presetting stations and other tool databases
Fastems tool data management is based on years of experience on FMSs and machine tool integrations. Integrations cover all the common control systems and machine tool manufacturers (check list). Typically for FMS integrated machine tools the tool data management can make tool management simpler and improve productivity. For every integrated machine tool it is possible to use centralized magazine listing for tool status, remaining life time, free pots etc. FMS can automatically take the pallet to the machine tool which has all the available tools and also in the tool room it is possible to prepare the needed tools based on magazine listings.
Tool data management can also be integrated to tool presetter stations. Tool data management provides presetting lists to the presetter and presetting stations writes back the offsets. Offsets are then written to the machine tool via Fastems tool data management. When needed, the tool base data can be read from a separate tool database. Tool identification can also include Balluff tool ID chips for tool identification.
Central Tool Storage, CTS (tool hive)
CTS storage is a separate unit with its own robot system. This solution enables high scalability, high throughput and high storage capacity reaching to thousands of tools. System topology can be also scaled: there can be multiple gantry robots and multiple storage units integrated together.Industrial robot is top mounted on a cart that enables it to move along the aisle. Tool storage is two-sided rack storage. There are tool input/output stations for tool maintenance. Storage robot and gantry robot have buffer places that are used to move tools between central storage and machine tools. See more detailled description on sub page.
Robotized Tool Magazine
Robotized tool magazine is a solution for a single machine tool handling. The existing tool magazine can be extended or replaced with a separate unit with robot and tool racks. This is a single factory tested unit which is easy to build, transport and install at the machine tool.
