Tool systems

An essential part of FMS functionality is the automatic monitoring of the tool magazines of machine tools and dispatching of machining jobs based on tool availability. This functionality can be extended with value-adding features:

Management of tools outside the tool magazines. The FMS control system preserves tool data when tools are checked out and downloads tool data when they are returned to the tool magazine.
Automatic identification of tools via code chips. Chip code readers are integrated into the FMS control system. The tools are automatically identified and they do not need to be equipped with visual identification tags
Tool presetter integration. The FMS control system informs the tool presetter what and how to measure. The tool presetter sends the active geometry data to the FMS control system to be further downloaded to the machine tool controller
Tool data management system integration. A factory-wide tool data management system can be integrated with the FMS control system in order to enable tool data exchange.
