Systems with two stacker cranes provide formidable transfer capacity
A single system can include two stacker cranes, both operating in the same aisle. In this type of solution, the operating areas of the stacker cranes overlap, although both stacker cranes also have their own home zones for exclusive use. This solution significantly increases the transfer capacity of the system when both stacker cranes operate in their home zones most of the time. However, sometimes cross-zone deliveries are needed. In these situations, both stacker cranes participate in the transfer task by using a dedicated exchange location.
