Large pallet automation
In general, large pallet automation is required for handling extremely large and heavy loads, although sometimes large pallets are needed even though the loads are light compared to their size. Standard Fastems MLS systems can handle pallet sizes up to 1000 x 1000 millimeters and load weights up to 10 metric tons. For Fastems, a large pallet belongs to at least one of the following categories:
- Machining pallet size from 1000 x 1000 up to 2500 x 2500 millimeters
- Round machining pallet diameter from 1400 to 3000 millimeters
- Large load up to 6000 x 5000 millimeters
The total load (pallet, fixture, and workpieces) can range up to 25 metric tons.
Fastems has a comprehensive range of large pallet automation solutions: it includes the storage rack, stacker crane for pallet transfers, loading stations, and, if needed, the intermediate tables that transfer the pallet to machining centers or other processing devices. The storage rack is usually a multi-level construction that helps keep the system footprint small.
In pure storage systems it is possible to exceed the mentioned load sizes.
