Lean manufacturing with Fastems systems
The established tenet of lean manufacturing or lean production is the avoidance of waste: "more customer value with less work". The primary tools to achieve this are the JIT (just in time) principle and automation. JIT utilizes pull-type production, where production is triggered based on actual orders or demand while in push-type production, manufacturing starts based on estimated sales or the production plan.
It is obvious that no WIP buffers are accumulated in JIT production, which keeps the tied-up capital low. Automation is the key element in avoiding wasted work. Automation takes care of all routine work and people can concentrate on tasks that are most suitable for them, such as solving various types of problems.
Lean principles can also be crystallized as getting the right things to the right place at the right time in the right quantity to achieve perfect workflow, while minimizing waste and being flexible and able to change. This is exactly how Fastems automation systems work. We have comprehensive and long-term experience on how to design factory automation control systems that take into account more than just job scheduling: raw materials and other material or immaterial resources are also considered in order to find the best possible performance. Fastems control systems are reactive and dynamic in order to adapt to rapid changes in production. The control systems also support kanban-type visual control principles that are commonly used in pull-type production.
