Agile manufacturing with Fastems systems
Agile manufacturing is usually based on lean principles. Agile manufacturing emphasizes the ability to react to rapid and regular production changes. The agile philosophy complements the lean philosophy with software tools that enable all stakeholders to share the same data and production view.
Fastems control systems, such as MMS Enterprise, MMS Express, and the FPM control system, are agile control systems. These systems always provide the latest, real-time production status data. This includes the exact status of each released production order. The operators can change production orders, insert new ones, and suspend existing ones at any time. The control system reacts to these changes automatically and rearranges work based on the changed targets. The control systems also include special agile operation models and procedures. For example, the FPM control system has two order processing schemes: one for kanban-type continuous production and one for scheduled manufacturing orders. The scheduled orders automatically bypass continuous production and take priority at each manufacturing step. These schemes work in parallel and enable highly dynamic operation.
